From Charlotte:

Challenges and hardships are inevitable and at times it is natural to feel overwhelmed and as though life’s
obstacles are unmanageable. It is normal in these times to need support from others; seeking support is a crucial first step on one’s path towards change. As a Psychotherapist, I hope to support you through challenging times so that you may continue moving toward your life’s goals and ambitions!

In individual therapy, I work with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety and phobias, self-esteem difficulties, and difficulties related to eating, eating
disorders, and body image. I aim to create a nonjudgmental, empathic, shame-free therapeutic space where you may feel safe to express yourself fully and to explore challenging thoughts, emotions,
behaviours and relationships. I am aim to create a safe place for all socio-cultural backgrounds (i.e. race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation).

When we first meet, I hope to create the space for you to share your story and discuss any issues that may be impacting your current, day-to-day life. We will then work together to establish therapeutic goals and to develop an approach to treatment best suited to you. Working from an integrated perspective, I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including: Attachment Based/Mentalization Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Through therapy I intend to support you in achieving your goals on your path towards emotional well-being and personal fulfillment.

Over the past decade, I have worked in academic and research settings with adult and child/adolescent populations. I have conducted research on the effectiveness of behavioural interventions for children with autism, worked with children and adolescents in elementary and middle school settings, and studied resiliency in adults dealing with severe physical trauma. As a Psychotherapist at Shine Mental Health Collective, I provide psychotherapy in English to adolescents and adults under the supervision of Dr. Meagan Gallagher, C.Psych.
