land acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather is traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation - stewards of these lands and waters, which remain central to their culture, history, and spiritual practice.

As mental healthcare practitioners, it is our responsibility to not only honour these lands, but acknowledge the historical and ongoing impacts of colonialization on Indigenous peoples, foster cultural humility, and create spaces that support healing and reconciliation.

safe space environment

As psychotherapists, we recognize the profound importance of creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all individuals seeking care. We acknowledge the systemic barriers and historical trauma that disproportionately impact BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities.

We pledge to practice trauma-informed care with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by these communities. This includes:

  • Honoring each person’s lived experiences without judgment.

  • Actively addressing power dynamics and implicit biases within the therapeutic relationship.

  • Cultivating cultural humility and continuing education to enhance our awareness of racial, gender, and sexual identities.

  • Advocating for equity and justice within our practice and the broader systems of care.

We hold ourselves accountable to creating a therapeutic space where BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients feel seen, heard, and valued. We commit to fostering trust, safety, and empowerment in every interaction.

Our promise to you is that in our space, your identity, story, and healing journey are met with respect and care.
